The White Villages of Las Alpujarras & Shopping
Pampaneira is a village located high above the town of Orgiva, around 1060 metres above sea level and has some spectacular views and delightful Arts & Crafts shops. It is the first of three mountain villages of the Barranco de poqueira in the Alpujarras region. The neighbouring famous white villages of Bubion & Capillaria can be visited alongside in an afternoon. In the white villages there are many craft shops selling ceramics, leather, home goods and clothes. Also on offer are the locally produced specialities of cheese and ham. At the north side opens the Sierra Nevada range with the highest peak in mainland Spain, called Mulhacén. The journey to Pampaneira takes around 20 minutes from Pegasus Riding Centre.
The Sierra Nevada Ski Centre is Europe’s southernmost ski station and the highest in Spain. With its high elevation, the skiing season can last from late November until early May. Particularly towards the end of the season, it experiences sunny days of skiing. The resort is around 1 hour’s drive from Orgiva and about 27 km from the historic city of Granada. At the foot of the slopes, there is a resort village, Pradollano, which is home to a large number of shops, including many that sell or rent ski equipment, souvenir shops and a small supermarket. There is also a variety of ski schools, restaurants, cafés, bars and nightclubs.
Where else in the world can you go Skiing in the morning, take a leisurely ride through the stunning scenery of the Alpujarras in the afternoon and end the day on the beach watching the sun set over the Mediterranean?

The beach at Salobreña is around 40 minutes from our Riding centre. There are two main parts of Salobreña. The first is The Old Town, which sits atop a rocky prominence and is a cluster of whitewashed houses and quirky steep narrow streets leading up to a 10th-century Moorish castle. The second part of Salobreña is a new development which spreads from the bottom of The Old Town right to the Beach.
